Drunks

When people go out drinking, why isn't it premeditated murder if they have a wreck and kill someone. Everyone knows not to drink and drive, yet they still do it. When they get caught it should be attempted murder if they haven't yet killed someone. Not just a DUI. Maybe soon a district attorney will try this approach and it might start preventing a lot more accidents than the current laws.

Your thoughts...

Tonight on a Discovery Channel there was a show about elephants that attack. There were several cases shown where they attacked and killed people and they euthanized the elephants and moved them or tried to run them back into the woods. In one case the elephant started to run down the street from a circus and they did kill it; but in none of the others.

If it had been a dog, alligator, bear, shark or large cat, they would have captured it and killed it, but not the elephants. I'm not saying they should kill the elephants but what is the difference. Elephants must be so large that they would have a hard time disposing of the body. I don't see why they need to kill any of them. People wouldn't be harmed by any of them, with the exception of the dog. People are encroaching on the animal territories creating smaller ecosystem and hunting grounds for these animals and when one of them harms a person, we kill the animal. I say either move the animal or better educate the public. Animals shouldn't be killed just because someone decided it should be done. People are playing God with the lives of animals.

Any thoughts?

London bombing

It is unbelievable that anyone would think that random bombing in todays society is anything but terrorism. These people when found should be herded together around a bomb, similar to the ones they used and to light a fuse they can all watch as it burns into the explosives. I wish I could see what would go through their minds during the last 30 seconds of their lives.

Now, having said that, I must say that I couldn't participate because it would be too horrific a scene and I couldn't watch something like that. They do deserve to die the way they killed others. I'm sure some sick person would want to watch but I believe putting them into a field and everyone leaving after the fuse is lit would indicate to them that no one cares about them. Tell them that if Allah wanted them to live he would extinguish the fuse.

I can't believe that I could say something like this but what they did is repulsive.

I have not had time to post lately and I would like to put out some info now. Last Friday, my dad came up to get me and asked me to get get mom out of the stream. Well, she wasn't in the stream. She had jumped up on our dam where it is about 16" high and proceeded to the other side which is a bunch of overgrown bushes and weeds. There was a small wash out area and she landed upright placing her head about 1 foot below the top edge of the concrete dam and behind the bushes. When I got down there, I could hear her but couldn't see her. As I went closer a head appeared. Since she was straight down I couldn't lift her out and had to make a call to EMS. About 6 people arrived and the had a vest they placed on her and lifted her up and onto a backboard for a trip to the hospital. X-rays showed that she had a crack in her pelvis and required a week stay that included physical therapy so she wouldn't become stiff and to allow her to walk. It turns out that it will heal on its own over a 4 to 6 week period and she is sore. I am going to try to post a photo of my find on this blog. I hope it works out, since I have never posted a photo before this.

Just Words
This morning while reading the Chicago online news from one of their TV stations, I came across two versions of the same news. One stated; "Caught on tape:man run down". Below that was another version, "Caught on tape;man run over". One version insinuates that the man was accidentally run over while the other statement seems to convey that the man was chased by a car and that they were accidents. After viewing the tapes, it is obvious that the driver hit the man on purpose, knocked him down and ran over him in the process.

This implies to me that the person writing the headline for the story had not even seen the tape. Even though this is a trivial misuse of word, it makes me wonder whether the rest of the items on the site are true, made up or just misstatements. I have decided to block this site rather than risk getting erroneous information as news. Moving on....

Any comments?

NASCAR
I love to watch NASCAR racing but I have a problem with one aspect. The fact that they call them Fords, Chevys and Dodge, etc. What is needed to refer to cars by manufacturer. Just a shape evidently. Some racing teams even advertise that their parts are from many different sources. I have purchased numerous cars in my life and I have never had options like a tubular exposed frame, racing slicks, decals for lights, brillant paint schemes, removable steering wheels, adjustable suspensions, professionally manufactured engines with 750 hp, elaborate roll cages; just to name a few differences. I don't believe that you could go to a dealer and order any of the body parts either.

So what is it? The fact that a car owner chose to shape the car after a particular manufacturer or did the manufacturer pay the owners to use a particular shape? In the end, it seems fraudulent to insinuate that a Ford, Chevy or Dodge won a race. The teams builders and drivers were the ones that won the race in a car shaped to insinuate it was a Ford, Dodge or Chevy.

I would be interested in hearing your comments on this discussion.

How lucky can we be to be Americans. Freedom. Freedom to express ourselves in ways not many people around the world have. While many complain constantly about America, there are those that actually love this country and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I honestly believe that we should raise funds for those that are unhappy so they can move to the area of the world that they think is better. It would certainly allow them less stress. I don't know where they would be happy, but they must have a place in mind. Lets just bid them farewell and travel as soon as possible.

Have a wonderful year.

Just an honest thought
